I recently purchased a new Dell XPS 8700 with 8.1 and tried to re-install
QuickBooks Premier Contractor Edition 2010 per this You Tube instruction
but was unsuccessful in completing the installation. I
downloaded qbwebpatch release(17) for this version of QuickBooks 2010
Contractors Edition and the patch corrected my issues. (it is about a 450mb
file) The link is as follows:

  2. Hello, thank you for making this video and really guiding beginners such as
myself through the process. I read your other responses to comments and I
still dont know what to do. Im trying to install Quickbooks Premier
Industry Edition Contractor 2010 onto my Windows 8 computer. I followed all
your instructions. When it comes to the part where I have to “Test the
Program” my quickbooks loads but doesn’t open. I’ve tried changing it from
Window 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP and nothing. I don’t know how to do the
2nd method (idk where to find “Program Manager”). Thank you!

    http://support.quickbooks.intuit.com/support/ProductUpdates.aspx . After
re-booting the machine a script error went away. I loaded my quickbook
files from my old machine and everything is working so far. I will make an
update to this post if in the future this fix fails to operate but at this
time I’m confident that I have fixed my problems. I hope this helps anyone
that has had the same issues I had and don’t want to upgrade at this time.

  4. There are many methods on how to install QuickBooks Pro 2010 and 2010 in
Windows 8, but this is the easiest way I have found so far.

  5. Intuit tells me that my system must be minimum 2.0 Ghz and 2.4Ghz or higher
is recommended. Also that Windows 8.1 will not run Quickbooks Pro 2010, so
I want to try your method, but what about the processor speed? The new
laptop I bought (Still in the box unopened til I get this figured out) is
an Acer i7-4510 1.7Ghz. So will QB 2010 Pro not fun on this 1.7 Ghz?

  6. It seems that it is not working for some. I did upgrade to Windows 8.1
before attempting this, so if you have not done it yet, upgrade and then
try installing QuickBooks 2010 to Windows 8.1. Make sure you follow the
exact instructions. I am also using an HP Pavilion laptop computer so it is
possible other brands have a different registry that interrupts the
    process.

  7. Do you think I could use this same process to install Quickbooks Simple
    Start 2010?

  8. Thanks for the great tip. Seems to be working fine

  9. Thank you sooooooo much! I knew there must be an override for installing
    old software on Windows 8.

Appreciate you taking the time to make a video to walk me through this.

  10. I was so happy to see this video…. tried to install 2012 to Windows 7
following your video but the installation will not continue manually. I
get the message that the installation was interrupted and to try again. I
do not seem to be able to get past it.. The problem with auto installing
is just like you said, with the Flash program..PLEASE HELP Thanks :)

  11. I get a message that there is not enough room to install the program when I
    click on windows installer

  12. I can’t get QB to open in the testing the program even through I try
Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP and nothing…please help

  13. Thank you so much for this information! You saved the day! :-)

  14. I’m getting a message that says not enough storage is available to process
this command. although the I just purchased the computer and I hardly have
any thing on it, any advice on that

  15. Any thoughts on how to install Quickbooks 2007 on windows 8.1? Quickbooks
2007 wants to install .net 1.1, which is where it fails. I realize that
Quickbooks 2007 is dated, but it does all that I need and would like not to
    upgrade if possible. Thanks!

  16. hi there,

learn Quickbook as an added skill to my CV, which version should i use ?
I have installed the Accountant version ! and it says 30 days before it
    expires !!

  17. I am trying to install Quickbooks Premier Editions 2010 using your video.
When I open the CD the file names are not the same as in the video. Do you
    have any experience with this?

  18. I just followed the video to install on my new computer and saved the
purchase of Quickbooks 2014. You are awesome! Thanks and Merry Christmas

  19. I tried this method , and to no avail . I had a windows 8 hp with qb pro
2012 and it was perfect I got a new computer which is windows 8.1 and I
installed, you can do everythi g with the qb except when I try to email my
estimates , invoices it tells me qb cannot create a pdf file . So I
followed the steps qb gave me and still no go .. I cant even manually save
as a pdf.. Please please could you help me .

  20. Your DIY was helpful. It’s funny that QuickBooks Simple Start 2009 works
without an issue but 2010 does it’s check for Flash and then error 1603
comes up. Running the install in compatibility mode for Windows 7 usually
does the trick for me. As for Windows 8.1 I find it works just fine. I am
not of the mind that the software needs to “go back” to the way it worked
in previous Windows versions. One simple tip I will suggest is not to think
about icons or apps at all. When you want something just hit the windows
key and start typing. So for example when I want MS Word I don’t hunt for
the icon, I simply hit Windows key and type Word and hit enter and viola
Word comes up. Give it a try and you might find that Windows 8.1 works
pretty well, besides people didn’t like every other Windows version when
they came out either. Windows XP was one of the most maligned operating
system in history and look how long it took for people to let go of it.

  21. Didnt work to start with, uninstalled and tried again. Did a QB repair and
its loaded fine! Thanks! Cant beleive QB say it doesnt work

  22. Thanks so much for this info. I was going crazy with Windows 8.1 and then
seeing that I had to buy an upgrade. Thanks for saving me the money on the
upgrade. I agree with you with regard to Windows 8.1 – what a mess! I
don’t understand where this is so much better than previous versions.
    Thanks again.

  23. Thank you soooo much. As I learned from another comment, I had to uninstall
the program, then re-install it and run the repair. But once I did that and
followed your instructions, it works great. The hardware companies should
pay you because I was going to take my new HP Notebook back. Now I will
keep it. I hope this process works with some of my other older software
programs. Power to the people! Did I just date myself?

  24. Thank you Thank you,
I normally don’t comment, but had to this time. I am a pretty advance user
for software but this had me very baffle I was able to get it to work
after reading the comments for the repairs which I didn’t have to
uninstalled the software. Again thank you I am using Windows 8.1 pro

  25. I had already upgraded to 8.1 before trying this. Seemed to work, but then
it will only act like it’s going to open and then nothing more. No matter
what, troubleshooter keeps coming back to “incompatable”.
