Question by Joshua: is my processor good or bad for gaming?
ok well I bought Fallout 3 which when I first bought it, it worked perfectly! I loved it and had so much fun no bad fps or lag what so ever.. but then now when I try and load my gamesave it crashes I have done so much like unistalling (which I did 5 times now) I edited and added the 2 bars in the .ini file and yea.. so I was just wondering if it was my computer itself ok all the info is down below.

I have tried both of these things before, but! I did the local files and delete local game content, and well now I have to reinstall the game for the 6th time.. but I willing to redo steps so I am gonna try and see if it works.
ok well I looked more into it, and I found this site game-debate.com/ and I filled out my info on fallout 3 and everything was perfect to run but! the GPU so I am gonna buy a new graphics card.. but do u think tht would fix my problem with the game? I mean Idk if it will because I played it before without a new one but idk

your processor is actually very good and more than capable of running “fallout 3″ ,however the game crashes are common place as I have experienced the same problems when running the same game
from looking on the forums it appears the crashes seem to occur in specific area,s of the game but these are different with each installation … so for example your game may crash in one area and mine would crash in another, and to fix these problems is extrememly hard
I presume you have updated your graphic card/adapters drivers and also updated the direct x runtime files ( microsoft.com/en-gb/download/details.aspx?id=35 ) … these can sometimes help but from my experience these crashes are game related and have nothing to do with the hardware or drivers
other things you can try include
1)compatibility mode : right click the game icon and select properties>compatibility> select windows xp from the drop down list ( if that does not work try other versions of windows such as vista )
2) run as administrator ( right click again and select properties>compatibility>tick box marked ” run as administrator .. then apply and ok )
3) try disabling some ingame video options …. these include v-sync,motion blur and reduce draw distance )
some people also find setting affinity(see video above ) ( disabling some cores on the cpu ) can help ….. to do this run the game and then press “ctrl>alt>delete” and then right click fallout 3 in the tasks manager and choose “set affinity ” ,this will then allow you to disable ( or turn off ) some of the cpu cores .. note : the first core on your cpu is named “cpu 0” and then second “cpu1 ” so don’t be concerned when you only see cpu3 ( and no cpu4 ) as the first core is cpu0 ……
I hope this helps Joshua … any questions let me know
good luck mate !
